BIOGRAPHY of JOHN ABRAHAM
John Abraham was born on 17th December 1973 in Mumbai INDIA. According to his dad John was born in a Malayalee Christian family of Aluva (Kerala) but his mother is an Irani from the family of Parsi. His father was an architect while his mother was a basketball teacher. Abraham has a younger brother named as Alan Abraham. However, being a Catholic his father added the name Abraham to his son John, who was named by his grandparents as a mark of respect and give honor to the first patriarch and progenitor of the Hebrew people in the Bible. Later on John moved to Mumbai and he studied from Bombay Scottish School continuing with Jai Hind College, where he became the captain of the college football team.
After completing his studies of MBA in marketing, he started working with an ad agency as a media planner for the Enterprises Nexus as well as being captain of Bombay's soccer team. His revolutionary looks, macho body, baby smiles and nice character made him to move in modeling field. And there was the time when Abraham’s luck stroked out with many hearts started beating just for him. He then became the highest paid supermodel in India.
Same year came the paranormal thriller Saaya 2003, Film was commercial and critical failure. It followed by number of other failures, including Pooja Bhatt's directorial debut Film Paap in 2004 and Ahmed Khan's Lakeer same year.
Then came Dhoom in 2004, an action film. He played the villain role. The film was a big commercial success.
In 2005 he starred in thriller Kaal and comedy Garam Masala both of which did well at the box office. Later that year his role in the critically acclaimed film Water was appreciated.
In the summer of 2006, Abraham performed at the Rockstars Concert with Hindi Cinema actorsSalman Khan, Zayed Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Esha Deol, Shahid Kapoor and Mallika Sherawat.
In that same year, he starred in the films Zinda, Taxi No 9211 with Nana Patekar, Baabul and Kabul Express.
multi starrer Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love was John Abraham's first release in 2007. The movie failed to do well at the Indian box office. Later came thriller No Smoking and the sports film Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal.
In 2008 Abraham acted with Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra in Dostana, this was his only release that year. Film did well at the box office.
His first release of 2009 was New York. The film achieved critical and commercial success.
AWARDS
John received is first award in the second year of his acting career in 2004 he was nominated for Most Promising New comer Male in the Weekly Screen Awards.
Then nominated for DHOOM in which he played the role of a villain. He received two awards for this film, one was for the nomination of Best Actor in a Villainous Role for the year 2005 and secondly Zee Cine Awards in the category of Best Performance in a Villainous Role for the same year.
